A professional portrait that positions, not flatters
A professional portrait doesn't always have to flatter. It must, however, always position: Showing who you are and what you stand for at a glance. That was also the starting point for our photo shoot with Andy Coomans, co-founder and frontman of BlackBird Business Events.
In a short period of time, BlackBird has become one of the fastest-growing players in the Flemish training sector. Through strategic business training and coaching programs, it helps SME entrepreneurs and business leaders run their businesses more effectively and strategically. As the face of the company, Andy appears on LinkedIn, in the press, and on stage. His portrait must therefore convey the same clear message everywhere.
First, a cup of coffee and a good conversation
As with every shoot at our studio in Willebroek, we didn’t start behind the camera, but at the table. Together with Andy and Daisy Nys—his wife and CEO of BlackBird—we discussed what look would best suit his position and the way he communicates. Who does this image need to convince? Where will it be used? And what should someone feel when they see Andy for the first time?
Contrast, a clear perspective, and a confident demeanor
Andy is known for his direct approach. A slick sales look doesn’t fit that image. That’s why we opted for images with higher contrast, a dark background, a direct gaze into the lens, and a confident posture. No posing, but personal branding who clearly explains what he stands for.
One portrait, usable anywhere
In the meantime, the photos are being used extensively: on LinkedIn and in media such as De Tijd and Trends, but also on banners, in presentations, and in announcements for his lectures. The landscape-oriented image also leaves space next to Andy, making it ideal for a website header or a slide where text needs to fit next to the person.
That’s where a professional portrait proves its worth: if the image is right, it enhances every place your name appears. And it’s all created right here in our studio.
